in africa. please pray.

The day has arrived! Less than 24 hours from now and we will be on our way to South Africa!! We will be back on June 19th! Prayers for the next three weeks are beyond appreciated it! I ask that you pray we have safe travels, all of us stay safe and healthy, and that we are open for the Lord to move through us to bring Glory to His Kingdom! My whole team is so excited and ready to make a very small dent on the lives in Africa that we are going to to encounter with the ministry we are going with. I feel so blessed to be apart of this team, for this opportunity, and that God picked me for this trip! Praise the Lord!! He is way too good to us when we are so undeserving.

Here's a few things that I'm loving today :) 


1.) perfume samples; not that I am considering wearing something other than my 'signature' perfume. but its still fun! right? right. 
2.) buying a brand new book. I have a problem with book stores, I buy 3-15 books every time I go in one. It backfires because now I have so many unread books that I still want to read but I dont think I'll ever get through them all. keep buying. keep buying. 
3.) funny texting conversations. You know a conversation is funny via text when your literally lol-ing. 
4.) brunch with my best gal pal's from high school. 
5.) Africa looking stationary. It makes my thank you notes for donations much more festive! 
6.) j.crew headbands
7.) fedora's :) love. love. love. 
8.) receiving sweet 'thinking of you' text messages from good friends! 
9.) This absolutely beautiful day after so many storms and so much devastation from the tornadoes. It's days like this that you cannot possibly deny God - who else could create such an amazing world and day?! 
10.) my new camera. obsessed. certifiably obsessed.

7 days

As you all know, I'm going to Africa this summer. this summer. I think I need to rephrase.. I'm going to Africa in 7 days. I'll repeat - 7 days! 7 days!! 7 days!!! 


With that terribly exciting news comes with a lot to do to get ready for my trip! Everything I need to go buy are silly and easy things. Where I'm going in Africa girls are not to show the backs of their knees, meaning we have to wear pants, maxi dresses, or maxi skirts. 


The idea of buying maxi skirts is probably a little bit more exciting to me and sparking my style ideas more than it should. 


Of course I bought cheapy skirts and dresses for my trip, leaving monetary, fashion, and american value out of my mission trip wardrobe. 


BUT. you can bet your bottom dollar that when I get home I'll be investing in a couple fabulous maxi skirts!

tornado season.

ok ok. so dont judge me for what I'm about to admit because I know it makes us seem like Oklahoma hicks.. but.. tonight we had our first real bad storm night. It was state-wide and was very eventful. We dont have a basement at my house so we drove across town to my step-mom's office which does have a basement! Praise the Lord, right? right.

Downfall of that is there was no tv. Soooo my dad and I sat out in his car listening to the weather waiting to take cover.

It's comin'! 

The storm came slower than was originally thought so I got some cool pictures of what the weather looks like leading up to a tornado.  (these are in order of not bad to bad!)

My parents made me come inside when it got really bad so I couldnt get snap any really cool dangerous weather pictures. bummer. insert sad face here.

Another downfall: waiting for tornadoes is the most boring thing ever, it takes sooo long sometimes.

home sweet home.

There is a saying; you can never go home again, and some visits home I agree 100% with that saying. Probably most visits I feel that way if I were to be honest. My home is now in Norman, going back to Tulsa seems like a past life that I have nothing in common with anymore.


But then on the rare occasion I go home for a couple of days and it truly feels like home.


This last weekend I went home, to my lake house, with my dad and stepmom for three amazingly perfect days & nights. Maybe it was because we were at the lake rather than Tulsa.. but for the first time in almost 2 years I felt like I was able to go home, to my carefree childhood home for a few days.


The weekend was spent relaxing and laughing with my parents while on the boat, sea doos, fishing, wine and dining, movies, and early nights to bed. What could be better the weekend after finals? Nothing.


I have a ton of fun, humorous pictures from the weekend but I would rather share these 4 pictures of the gems at home that could never be replaced.

south africa.

As some of you know, the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to go to South Africa this summer! waaahooooo!! I leave in officially 22 days! (But whose counting right? ha.) 

I'm so excited, its actually all I can think about. I'm so thrilled to be able to minister to those in South Africa for 3 weeks, speak with people about God, grow in my own faith, bond with my team, and have the best time while spreading the gospel! Glory to God. 

With that said, I would like to introduce to you.. drum roll please.. my team! 

I can say without a doubt, I'm already in love with every single one of them! We have so much fun together and the knowledge, wisdom, and love they have for Jesus is amazing!!

happy mommy day!

I know I'm an hour late... but HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!! 

What a blessing from God mama's are! There should be more than one day devoted to them!

I unfortunately could not be with mine today but she was being treated like a princess at the lake on the boat! 

I have just recently gained a greater respect for mothers since I came to college. (it's funny.. everyone says you will one day appreciate mom's) I don't know how they do all that they do. 

I personally have a great, smart, beautiful, loving, spunky, lively mom who I am very very thankful for every day. Even on the days when I'm in a bad mood and I'm mean to her! .. Which I'm really trying to stop! Promise! 

So to all mom's out there, happy mothers day! I truly hope your day was filled with complete happiness and joy! You deserve it for all that you do! You guys are rockstars!!
